NBS: Profits among China's industrial firms finally rise

China's sizable industrial enterprises posted a combined gross profit of Yuan 4.69 trillion ($657.9 billion) over the first eight months of this year, climbing by 0.9% on year, according to the latest data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on September 27.

Although tiny, the uptick marked the first on-year rise since January-May, noted NBS statistician Yu Weining in a statement, attributing the rise to new macroeconomic policies coming into effect during the period, plus the low basis for comparison over the corresponding period last year.
