NBS: China's power generation jumps 8% on year in Oct

The total amount of electricity that China generated in October reached 800.21 billion kilowatt hours (kWh), up 7.9% on year but down 3.1% from September, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on November 14.

Thermal power generation – mainly coal-fired – rose 7.3% on year to 513.77 billion kWh, though the total was 0.7% below the previous month. Hydropower output surged 28.2% on year to 135.13 billion kWh, despite falling 15% on month, in line with seasonal rainfall patterns. Solar and nuclear output increased
