NEA: China's power use in October posts fastest YoY growth in nearly 3 years

China's electricity consumption reached 857.2 billion kilowatt hours (kWh) in October, jumping 10.4% year on year, the fastest on-year rise since December 2023, according to data released by the National Energy Administration (NEA) on November 21. However, the figure was still 3.5% lower than the 888.6 billion kWh consumed in September.

Propelled by last month's unusual weather pattern of cold temperatures in northern China and unseasonable heat in southern China, household power consumption soared by 23.9% on year to 115.5 billion kWh in October.
