On Thursday, February 5, 2026, the Regent of North Morowali, Delis Julkarson, stated during a program that the regional government, in principle, supports the President's priority projects aimed at strengthening national development. Delis noted that this support aligns with the central government's efforts to coordinate national policies and their implementation across regions.
However, he emphasized that nickel production reductions would still affect regional fiscal capacity. The cuts would directly impact the Regional Revenue Sharing Fund (DBH), which has long been a primary source of income for nickel-producing regions.
This situation could ultimately affect regional budgets and the implementation of development projects. Therefore, regions need to become more innovative in designing programs to ensure they can continue operating effectively even amid potential revenue declines.
Nevertheless, he expressed hope that the central government would consider adjusting revenue distribution policies to prevent a decline in local fiscal income. He suggested that increasing land value might serve as a solution to counter the production decrease and maintain regional financial stability.
