Thailand's coal imports jump 16% in January

Thailand imported 1.97 million tonnes of coal in January, marking a notable 16.4% year-on-year increase, according to the latest data from Thai Customs. January's imports also represented a substantial increase from the 958,500 tonnes the country imported during December.

Thermal coal – including bituminous, sub-bituminous and lignite – accounted for nearly all inbound volumes, while anthracite imports totalled only 6,125 tonnes and briquettes 1,022 tonnes, the Customs figures showed.
