On March 3, 2026, Indonesian nickel smelting company PT Gunbuster Nickel Industry (PT GNI) officially issued a statement responding to recent media reports regarding alleged operational difficulties and production line suspensions.
Recently, multiple media outlets reported that PT GNI was facing operational problems, with some even claiming that 5 of its 20 production lines have been halted. In response, PT GNI explicitly denied these claims and emphasized that the relevant content is untrue and constitutes unverified false reporting.
The company stated that, as of now, all production and operational activities are proceeding normally, with all processes advancing in accordance with the company's established standards and plans. Regarding external concerns about production line operations, PT GNI explained that production line management is a dynamic adjustment process, typically involving reasonable scheduling based on equipment maintenance cycles, operational requirements, and efficiency improvements. Such adjustments are routine industrial management practices and do not indicate an overall suspension of the company's operations, nor should they be misinterpreted as operational difficulties.
PT GNI's management expressed regret over the misunderstanding caused by inaccurate information among the public and partners. The company reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining stable operations, prioritizing production safety, and continuously optimizing operational performance to ensure the enterprise's long-term sustainable development.
The company also called on the media and all sectors of society to adhere to principles of objectivity and fairness when publishing information, and to strengthen information verification. PT GNI stated its willingness to cooperate with all parties in providing necessary clarifications and explanations to maintain an accurate and transparent information environment.
