FLASH: Four nickel smelters in Indonesia suspend production following landslide in February

On March 9, 2026, four hydrometallurgical projects--QMB, Meiming, ESG, and Green-Eco--located in Indonesia's IMIP Park have entered a production halt for maintenance following a landslide in their shared tailings area in February. The suspension is expected to last several weeks.

 

According to Mysteel, these four projects have a combined capacity of 150,000 tonnes of nickel metal, and together produced 108,200 tonnes MHP in Ni. content throughout 2025.
