PT Harita Nickel is accelerating the construction of its remaining nickel smelting lines on Obi Island, South Halmahera, North Maluku, with completion anticipated in the second quarter of 2026. This will mark the full commissioning of the company's 12 nickel smelting lines.
Roy Arman Arfandy, President Director of the company, disclosed during a Ramadan event in Jakarta that eight lines have been commercially operational since 2025. The remaining four lines are on track for completion in Q2 this year, after which all 12 lines will be fully operational.
According to Roy, all production lines are operated by PT Karunia Permai Sentosa, and their full commissioning will further strengthen the company's nickel production expansion strategy on Obi Island.
Amid the current favorable macroeconomic environment, Roy stated that the company will focus on enhancing operational efficiency while continuously improving Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards to drive sustainable development. As part of efficiency improvement measures, the company is constructing a limestone processing plant on Obi Island to convert quicklime into limestone, a material used in the High-Pressure Acid Leach (HPAL) process to optimize nickel ore leaching.
