Recently, the Yantai Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment published a public notice regarding the acceptance of the environmental impact assessment document for the battery-grade sulfate salt production unit capacity expansion and technical renovation project of Wanhua Chemical (Yantai) Battery Material Technology Co., Ltd.
Located within the existing plant area of Wanhua Chemical (Yantai) Battery Material Technology Co., Ltd. in the Yantai Chemical Industry Park, Yantai City, Shandong Province, the project has a total investment of Yuan 62.65 million. It plans to renovate the existing battery-grade sulfate production unit to further expand and increase production capacity. The project utilizes raw materials such as MHP, crude nickel sulfate, and cobalt hydroxide. Through processes including leaching, extraction, evaporation, and crystallization, it will produce battery-grade sulfate products. Upon completion, the project will achieve an annual production capacity of 88,000 tonnes of nickel sulfate hexahydrate crystals and 24,000 cubic meters of nickel sulfate solution, along with several other products.
Previously, Phase II and Phase III of Wanhua Chemical's Haiyang Industrial Park project in Shandong each planned an annual output of 200,000 tonnes of lithium iron phosphate (LFP), with environmental assessments for both phases approved in February of this year. The company's LFP project in Laizhou, which plans to build a production capacity of 650,000 tonnes of LFP, was officially announced in December last year, and its environmental impact assessment was accepted this February.
