Indonesia's stainless exports rise in January

Indonesia's stainless steel exports had a solid start to 2026, rising 5.5% on month during January to around 393,125 tonnes, according to data from Indonesia Customs. The volume also represented a notable 17.1% increase compared to the same month last year.

The growth was primarily driven by a surge in shipments of stainless hot-rolled coil in widths of 600mm or more, which totaled some 206,600 tonnes for the month – a sharp increase of 43,500 tonnes or 26.7% from December 2025.
