In February 2026, China's National Energy Administration (NEA) issued 198 million Green Electricity Certificates (GECs) covering 610,200 renewable energy power projects. Of these, 150 million GECs were tradable, accounting for 75.49% of the total. The certificates issued this month included 155 million GECs corresponding to renewable electricity generated in January 2026, representing 78.13% of the total issued.
During February 2026, a total of 75.48 million GECs were traded nationwide, including 29.96 million GECs transacted through green electricity trading.
Separately, 45.52 million GECs were traded in standalone transactions, comprising:
- 7.22 million GECs from power generated in 2024, with an average price of Yuan 1.21 per certificate
- 38.31 million GECs from power generated in 2025, with an average price of Yuan 5.90 per certificate
