Philippines declares energy emergency, considers higher coal use

The Philippines has declared a national energy emergency due to risks of fuel supply shortages due to the ongoing Middle East conflict.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed the order on March 24, allowing the government to secure fuel supplies quickly and take action against hoarding.   With LNG prices rising, Energy Secretary Sharon Garin said the country will temporarily increase coal-fired power generation starting in April to maintain electricity supply and control costs.   Coal
