Taiwan CSC's carbon steel sales slip further in Feb

The total volume of carbon steel products sold by China Steel Corp (CSC), Taiwan's top integrated steel producer, continued to head south in February to reach 579,771 tonnes, down for a second month and by 12,312 tonnes or 2.1% from January, according to the company's latest release on its website.

CSC reported a pre-tax loss of TWD 487 million ($15.2 million) in February, steeper than the loss of TWD 85.8 million for the prior month, mainly due to the fall in its steel sales volume and thinning profit margins on carbon steel sales, the company explained in the release. For
