In March, China's industrial production of raw coal remained stable, crude oil production continued to grow, natural gas output accelerated, and power generation posted steady growth, according to the National Bureau of Statistics of.
Power generation by industrial enterprises above designated size reached 802.5 billion kWh in March, up 1.4% year-on-year, slowing by 2.7 percentage points from the January-February period. Average daily generation stood at 25.89 billion kWh. In the first quarter, total power generation reached 2,378.2 billion kWh, up 3.4% year-on-year.
By category, thermal power, hydropower, and solar power accelerated their growth in March, while nuclear and wind power turned from growth to decline. Specifically:
- Thermal power rose 4.2% year-on-year, accelerating by 0.9 percentage points from the first two months.
- Hydropower increased 10.8% year-on-year, accelerating by 4.0 percentage points.
- Nuclear power fell 11.8% year-on-year, compared with a 0.8% increase in January–February.
- Wind power declined 17.3% year-on-year, versus a 5.3% increase in January–February.
- Solar power grew 10.0% year-on-year, accelerating by 0.1 percentage point from the first two months.
