China's phosphate rock imports surged in March 2026, alleviating domestic supply tightness. According to GACC data cited by OilChem, March imports rose 146% YoY to 182k tonnes, with the Q1 total up 102.8% YoY to 522.8k tonnes; the average import price fell to $80/t. This volume increase with stable pricing supports the phosphorus chemical industry chain. The rise was driven by robust downstream demand and constrained domestic mine supply in Hubei. Looking ahead, OilChem expects imports to moderate in April as domestic supply recovers, but downstream demand may weaken due to high feedstock costs, potentially lowering operating rates.

According to the data of General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC), in March 2026, China's phosphate rock imports reached 182,000 tonnes, a significant increase of 88.18% month-on-month and a surge of 146% year-on-year, effectively alleviating domestic supply tightness.
