China breaks ground on largest UHV AC power transmission project

China formally began constructing a 1,000-kilovolt ultra-high voltage (UHV) AC loop system in East China's Zhejiang province on April 28, marking the start of the country's largest UHV AC transmission project in terms of scale and investment, state media CCTV reported.

The 508-km transmission loop will span seven cities across the province, with total investment reaching Yuan 29.3 billion ($4.3 billion).
