NBS: China's power output rises 2.6% YoY in April, led by stronger hydropower generation

Total production of electricity in China from all energy sources rose 2.6% year on year to 744 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) in April, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on May 18. The growth in output accelerated from a 1.4% increase in March, mainly driven by stronger hydropower production.

Hydropower generation climbed 12.2% on year to 88.1 billion kWh in April, following a 10.8% rise in March, indicating continued improvement in water inflows and reservoir conditions.
