Vietnam's VinMetal to develop steel complex with Primetals Technologies support

VinMetal Joint Stock Company (VinMetal), the steelmaking arm of Vingroup, purportedly Vietnam’s largest private conglomerate, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UK-based plantmaker Primetals Technologies to develop a large-scale integrated steel complex in Ha Tinh province in north-central Vietnam.

If the project proceeds as planned, it will be the province's second integrated steel complex following the commissioning of Taiwanese- and Japanese-invested Formosa Ha Tinh Steel (FTS) where upstream steel production began in May 2017, Mysteel Global notes.
