According to latest news on June 5, Samsung SDI will supply Unified Cells to Volkswagen, becoming the third supplier after Gotion High-Tech and Volkswagen's battery subsidiary PowerCo.
Samsung SDI is currently retrofitting two production lines at its Göd Plant 1 in Hungary to meet Volkswagen's Unified Cell specifications. The relevant production equipment has already been delivered to the plant. Mass production is expected to commence next year, and while the specific production capacity has not yet been finalized, it is estimated to be in the double-digit GWh range. This suggests that Samsung SDI's supply scale to Volkswagen is expected to be at least 10 GWh.
Notably, CATL has also secured orders for Volkswagen's Unified Cells, though it has not yet officially announced its mass production plans.
