UPDATE: Scope of Shanxi mine safety inspections continues to widen

Coking coal production in North China's Shanxi province remains under strain as more mines are being investigated by authorities for mine-safety lapses, according to Mysteel's latest status survey.

By Wednesday, operations at a total of 155 coking coal mines surveyed by Mysteel in Shanxi had been disrupted by ongoing mine inspections within the province, up from an earlier tally of 148 on Monday, the latest survey results showed. Total affected capacity also increased from Monday's 171.7 million
