Taiwan stainless imports slump 15% in H1

Taiwan's stainless steel imports fell sharply during this year's January-June half, reflecting weak demand from conventional end-use sectors including hardware, kitchenware and machinery, Mysteel Global learns.

Total imports reached some 534,900 tonnes over January-June, representing a plunge of 96,700 tonnes or 15.3% on year, Taiwan Customs data showed. Exports of stainless steel products also declined over the same period, falling by a significant 84,700 tonnes or 19.1% on year to 358,900 tonnes, the Customs data indicate,
