GACC: China's coal exports drop 17% YoY in H1 '26

China's exports of coal and lignite for all uses totalled 2.76 million tonnes in the first half of 2026, lower by around 17% from the year-ago level, according to the latest data from China's General Administration of Customs (GACC).

Among the major coal types, thermal coal (including bituminous coal grades and lignite coal) made up the most of China's exports in H1, reaching 1.31 million tonnes and up 3.4% on year. Anthracite and coking coal tumbled 34% and 22% on year to reach 915,673 tonnes and 533,918 tonnes,
