Mongolia's coal output drops 5% MoM in July

During July 11-15, Mongolia had celebrated its Naadam Festival holiday, which may have slowed the country's coal production around the period and led to the on-month drop, Mysteel Global notes.
By type, Mongolia's output of hard coal (including coking and thermal coal types) reached 10.23 million tonnes, down 6.9% from June but up 48% on year. Lignite coal reached around 946,000 tonnes, up 30% on month and 63% on year, Mysteel Global calculated based on the NSO's monthly bulletin.

According to the NSO's revised data, over January-July Mongolia's cumulative production of coal for all uses totalled 73.65 million tonnes, up 52% from the same period of last year.
Hard coal contributed to all the growth, with its total output over the first seven months reaching 67.66 million tonnes, surging 60% on year. That of lignite dropped 4.7% on year to reach 5.99 million tonnes.
The NSO modifies its historical production data from time to time, Mysteel Global notes.
In July, Mongolia's coal exports to China dropped 11.4% on month to 9.13 million tonnes, also disrupted due to the five-day Naadam holiday, as Mysteel Global reported.
