Australia spares one China exporter of steel studs, track from CVD
In Anti-Dumping Commission Notice No. 2026/108, authorities determined that Wenan Kaize Building Material Co., Ltd received a de minimis level of subsidies during the investigation period, a level that leads to the termination of the countervailing duty probe for that company.
However, the Commission will continue the anti-dumping investigation into all Chinese exporters of these items, alongside countervailing duty investigations against non-cooperative and other exporters, the notice said.
The case began on June 30 2025, when the Commission initiated AD and CVD investigations into light gauge steel studs and track from China following an application by Australian firm Rondo Building Services Pty Ltd. The dumping and subsidy investigation period covered April 1 2024 to March 31 2025, with the injury investigation period dating back to April 1 2021.
On May 25 2026, the Commission imposed provisional anti-dumping duties in the form of security deposits, effective May 26 2026. The duty rate was set at 37.8% for both Wenan Kaize Building Material and other Chinese exporters. At that time, the Commission found insufficient evidence for a preliminary affirmative countervailing ruling and allowed the subsidy probe to continue.
The affected products fall under Australian HS codes 7216.61.00.57, 7216.69.00.58, 7308.90.00.52, 7308.90.00.53, 7308.90.00.55, and 7308.90.00.56.
The 37.8% provisional anti-dumping duties remain in effect pending the final determinations.
