EEC proposes safeguard duty on tinplate imports

The Internal Market Protection Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has proposed a three-year safeguard duty on tinplate imports into the Customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), with the tariff set at 25.2% in the first year and decreasing by 1% annually thereafter.

The proposal covers flat-rolled products made of iron or non-alloy steel with a width of 600mm or more, a thickness of less than 0.5mm, clad or coated with a layer of metal with a tin content of 97% or more. Such products are commonly referred to as tinplate. The products
