Washington has moved to prevent a last-minute rush into polysilicon and selected solar imports before new Section 232 tariffs and minimum import prices take effect on December 4 2026. A temporary final rule issued by the US Department of Commerce on September 22 allows Commerce and US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to restrict shipments that are deemed to constitute stockpiling; newly established importers of record face weekly limits, although waivers are available.
