Tongwei's Yongxiang subsidiary has put a polysilicon project in Sichuan province into public consultation. Project database entries point to a 25,000 tonne/year high-purity polysilicon unit under Sichuan Yongxiang New Energy, though the final scope should be confirmed once the full filing documents are published.
The filing lands in an unusual window. The industry is cutting output, prices are under pressure, and the futures market is falling, yet the lowest-cost producer in China is still advancing new capacity. For Tongwei, the logic is cost: new lines built with the latest technology in a low-power-price region can run profitably at price levels where older units cannot.
