Australia's Gladstone port sees June coal exports jump on growing demand

A total of 6.45 million tonnes of coal were exported from the Gladstone port in Australia's Queensland to other countries in June, up 30% on month or 4.6% on year, according to the latest data released by the Gladstone Port Corporation.

The coal exports picked up noticeably last month, mainly to fulfil the growing demand particularly from Asian countries. Japan was still the top destination for coal exports from the port, and the coal shipment in June surged to a six-month high of 2.11 million tonnes, up by a notable 27.2%
