CHN Energy eyes new coal developments in Xinjiang

China Energy Investment Corporation (CHN Energy), China's largest state-run coal mining group, is looking to step up efforts to develop coal and coal-based industries in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region this year, the company has announced. The pledge was made by CHN president Liu Guoyue at a meeting convened by the government of Xinjiang autonomous region and the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission in Beijing on March 11, according to a post on its website.

In line with the coal giant's guideline of promoting more key projects in Xinjiang, CHN Energy aims to build Xinjiang as a major coal mining base by facilitating the release of new coal production capacity, a move aimed at safeguarding national energy security while boosting supplies of Xinjiang coal
