DISR: Global met coal prices to retreat on slowing trades in '25

Global metallurgical coal prices are forecast to decline in 2025, as worldwide trades of the steelmaking material face mounting pressures, the latest quarterly report issued by the Australia's Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR) predicts.

The report specifies that contract prices for high-quality hard coking coal (HCC) will likely tumble 27.1% on a yearly basis to reach US$191/t in 2025, while spot prices, basis FOB at Australia's east coast ports, are also projected to slide by 23.7% to US$190/t. The prices under the two
