MYSTEEL: China's port fees on U.S. vessels to see minimal impact on its coking coal imports

Starting October 14, China began charging Yuan 400/tonne ($56/t) on all US vessels docking at Chinese ports, in response to hefty port fees the United States initiated on Chinese-linked vessels, which took effect the same day, according to media reports.

Beijing's tit-for-tat measures target vessels owned or operated by US entities, those with 25% or higher US ownership, as well as vessels built in the US or flying the US flag. The new charges will increase by stages, with the levy to rise to Yuan 640/t from April 17 2026
