On December 8, the price of electrolytic cobalt declined Yuan 2,176/tonne to Yuan 408,444-410,222/tonne from the previous trading day. However, the prices of cobalt sulfate and cobalt chloride both remained unchanged at Yuan 87,500-93,000/t and 103,000-110,000/tonne respectively. Following high-priced purchases by downstream end-users, the market has once again entered a phase of relative calm. Inventory of older stock is gradually being depleted, and low-priced sources have become scarce, leading to a steady increase in overall market prices. New cobalt sulfate offers remained firm, with quotations reaching approximately Yuan 90,000/t. Up to now, no cobalt raw materials have departed from the Democratic Republic of Congo, and raw material supply continues to be tight. Upward momentum for cobalt sulfate persists, and prices are expected to remain stable in the near term.
