On December 9, the price of electrolytic cobalt decreased Yuan 3,583/tonne to Yuan 404,944-406,556/tonne from the previous trading day. In addition, the price of cobalt sulfate moved up Yuan 1,250/t to Yuan 90,000/t-93,000/t and that of cobalt chloride rose Yuan 1,000/t to 105,000-110,000/tonne. After a period of high-priced purchases by downstream end-users, the market has returned to be calm. Low-priced resources were scarce, driving a gradual overall price increase across the market. Offers for new cobalt sulfate have surpassed Yuan 90,000/t, yet downstream demand remains somewhat sluggish. As of now, no shipments of cobalt raw materials have departed from the Democratic Republic of Congo, indicating that raw material supply remains tight. This continues to provide underlying support for the upward potential of cobalt sulfate, though prices are expected to remain stable in the near term.
