On December 10, the price of electrolytic cobalt slumped Yuan 6,417/tonne to Yuan 398,444-400,222/tonne from the previous trading day. Moreover, the prices of cobalt sulfate and cobalt chloride both remained unchanged at Yuan 90,000/t-93,000/t and 105,000-110,000/tonne respectively. After downstream customers completed high-priced purchases, the market has returned to be quiet. Low-priced old inventory was scarce, and overall market prices gradually rose, with new cobalt sulfate offers surpassing Yuan 90,000/tonne. However, downstream demand remains somewhat sluggish, resulting in a situation where cobalt sulfate is nominally priced but lacks active trading. As of now, no cobalt raw materials have left the Democratic Republic of Congo, and supply remains tight. Cobalt sulfate still retains upward momentum and is expected to maintain stable in the near term.
