South Africa's coal exports rise 7.7% YoY in Feb, driven by Indian demand

South Africa's coal exports rose 7.7% year on year to 6.27 million tonnes in February, although shipments declined 1.9% from January, according to data from the South African Revenue Service (SARS).

The export value totaled Rand 7.84 billion ($462.2 million), broadly unchanged on both a yearly and monthly basis. Based on volume and value, the average export price stood at Rand 1,250.6/t, down 7.2% year on year but up 2% from January, according to Mysteel Global calculations. Strong demand from India
