On September 24, the market price of electrolytic cobalt slumped Yuan 14,000/tonne to Yuan 261,091-263,591/tonne. Meanwhile, the market prices of cobalt chloride and cobalt sulfate both declined Yuan 1,000/tonne to Yuan 74,000-76,000/tonne and 60,000/t-62,000/tonne respectively.Last week, the cobalt salt market continued to run weak overall, with a quiet trading atmosphere. On the cost side, prices of cobalt intermediates continued to decline, and the MHP cobalt payables fell further, continuously weakening cost support for cobalt salts. Downstream ternary precursor and Co3O4 producers showed insufficient purchasing appetite, maintaining only rigid-demand purchases. Meanwhile, market inquiry activity was subdued, and actual transactions were limited. The negative feedback loop in the cobalt sulfate market persisted. Under loss pressure, selling sentiment in the smelting segment loosened somewhat, and low-priced sources from some recycling enterprises weighed on mainstream quotations.
