On October 8, the Yichun Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau released a pre-acceptance notice for the environmental impact assessment report of the Jianxiawo lithium mine project, with a public comment period of 10 working days. In addition, the spot transactions were slow post the National Day holiday, partly due to concentrated stockpiling ahead of the holiday. Yet, on the demand end, the LFP output and production schedules for September and October rose about 4.74% and 3.61% MoM respectively, though LFP producers slowed their ramp-up pace due to factors including feedstock supply, production line testing, and margin pressure.
In summary, Q4 lithium carbonate demand is still relatively strong, with LFP and cell production schedules expected to remain high. Although the pace of inventory destocking is trending slower, absolute inventory levels continue to fall, providing some support for prices. Meanwhile, the 2027 prospect is also of key importance.
