DAILY: China's port thermal coal prices flat; stocks stop building

Thermal coal prices at China's northern ports held flat near recent highs, but ongoing pithead softening and subdued demand could weigh on portside prices.

On October 23, Mysteel assessed 5,500 kcal/kg NAR thermal coal at Yuan 1,035/tonne ($155.1/t) FOB northern ports with VAT, unchanged for a second session following a two-week rally from October 8, and 5,000 kcal/kg NAR coal also held flat at Yuan 933/t and 4,500 kcal/kg NAR coal at Yuan
