WEEKLY: China's HRC output edges up further

Hot-rolled coil (HRC) production among the 37 Chinese steelmakers regularly surveyed by Mysteel edged up further during October 22-28, rising by 19,400 tonnes or 0.68% on week to reach 2.88 million tonnes, the results of Mysteel's latest survey showed. The total was still lower by 11% on year, though.

One mill in Northeast China had resumed production after maintenance during the survey period, nudging up overall HRC output, the survey findings showed. The average capacity utilization rate for hot strip mills operated by the 37 steelmakers inched up by 0.5 percentage point on week to 73.6% during the survey week, while the average operation rate among the 64 production lines installed at
