China's H1 gold consumption falls 5.6% to 524 tonnes

China's total gold consumption for all uses declined by 5.6% on year to 523.75 tonnes during this year's first half, according to the quarterly report of the China Gold Association (CGA) on July 28. Demand for gold jewellery and gold bars and coins showed a disparity though, the CGA notes.
As gold prices continued to hit historic highs in the first half, the consumption of high-premium gold jewellery decreased significantly by 26.7% on year to 270 tonnes, while that of lower-premium gold bars and coins soared by 46% on year to 213.64 tonnes, according to the CGA.   The price of
