Vietnam's coal imports recover to 3-mth high in Oct

Vietnam, an emerging industrial hub and the world's fifth-largest coal buyer, imported 4.83 million tonnes of coal in October, a new high since July, according to the latest data from Vietnam Customs. The tonnage marked a 22% rebound from the 23-month low recorded in September and jumped by 11.3% compared to October 2024.

The country spent a total of $497.7 million on coal imports last month, up by 8.8% from the previous month and 7.9% higher than that for October last year, the data showed. This could be translated to an average unit import price of $103/tonne, down by 10.8% on month,
