South Africa's coal exports jump 11.2% on year in Oct

South Africa exported 7.21 million tonnes of coal in October, higher by 11.2% on year and 17.1% on month, the latest data from the South African Revenue Service (SARS) showed. The figure has increased for five months in a row since June, when the volume shipped abroad reached 4.47 million tonnes.

The total value of October's shipments stood at Rand 8.85 billion ($517.67 million), lower by 11% from a year earlier but up 11.5% from September. Based on the export volume and value, the average unit export price stood at Rand 1,227.4/t, down 20% on year and 4.8% on month, Mysteel
