NBS: 2025 crude steel output in China's key steel hubs drops 4.4% YoY

Crude steel production among China's top 10 steelmaking provinces and autonomous regions fell 4.4% on year to 682.57 million tonnes in 2025, according to the latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on January 22.

During December alone, total crude steel output across these 10 regions reached 48.43 million tonnes, down 4.8% on year. Last year, eight of the 10 regions saw their crude steel output decline compared with 2024, while the remaining two recorded modest growth in their production.
