Anglo American recently released its fourth-quarter report for 2025. Nickel production for the quarter stood at 10,300 tonnes in Ni. content, representing a 1.98% increase compared to the previous quarter but a 36.9% decrease year-on-year. This includes 8,400 tonnes from the Barro Alto ferronickel operation and 1,900 tonnes from the Codemin ferronickel operation (the figures pertain solely to its nickel business in Brazil). The quarter-on-quarter improvement was mainly attributed to higher ore grades and improved recovery rates.
As previously announced, Anglo American has entered into a definitive agreement to sell its nickel business to MMG Singapore Resources Pte. Ltd., and the transaction is progressing through the European Commission's antitrust approval process. The company's refined nickel business in South Africa has been divested and established as a separate entity, Valterra Platinum. Consequently, refined nickel production from this business has been excluded from Anglo American's total nickel production figures since the third quarter of 2025.
