Recently, Australian iron ore giant Fortescue announced it is accelerating the construction of the world's first industrialized green energy grid, which includes 1.2 GW of solar PV, over 600 MW of wind power, and 4-5 GWh of BESS.
According to the related source, the solar PV portion will be fully equipped with LONGi solar panels, the wind power equipment will primarily consist of Envision Energy wind turbines, and the battery energy storage system will be supplied by BYD.
Specifically, Fortescue announced plans to deploy 4-5 GWh of battery energy storage systems in Western Australia, coupled with 1.8 GW of solar and wind power, which is expected to commence commercial operation in 2028 to achieve the goal of powering mining equipment for 24 hours without using fossil fuels. The project has an estimated total investment of $2.5 billion USD (approximately Yuan 17 billion).
