Indonesia's stainless steel exports rise to 6-month high in May

Indonesia's stainless steel exports reached a six-month high of 384,045 tonnes in May, up 6,310 tonnes or 1.7% month-on-month, according to data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS).

However, due to a high base for comparison in the same month last year, the total was lower by a large 93,578 tonnes or 19.6% year-on-year, the data show. The monthly rebound was partly linked to aggressive purchases ahead of the European Union's new steel safeguard measures, which took effect
