NEA: China's coal-power share of H1 generation slips below 50% for first time

Power generated in China in coal-fired power stations totalled 2.5 trillion kWh in the first half of 2026, accounting for 49.7% of all electricity generated from all sources during the six months, the first time its share has fallen below the 50% mark for a first-half period, the National Energy Administration (NEA) said at a July 30 press briefing.
