Australia has finalized the anti-dumping (AD) and countervailing duty (CVD) measures on imports of light gauge steel stud and track (LGST) from China, according to two notices published by the Anti-Dumping Commission on Tuesday.

Final AD duties will apply at 37.8% for Wenan Kaize Building Material Co., Ltd. and 33.3% for all other Chinese exporters, both on an ad valorem basis. Meanwhile, a final CVD of 4.5% ad valorem will apply to all Chinese exporters other than Wenan Kaize. The Commission terminated the subsidy investigation into Wenan Kaize on August 17 after finding its subsidy level to be de minimis, as Mysteel Global reported.

The products covered are metallic-coated light gauge steel stud and track, with or without alloys, with a profile of up to and including 170mm in width by 170mm in height, and a base metal thickness of up to and including 0.69mm. Medium and heavy gauge products, noggings and flexible track components are excluded from the scope.

The targeted goods fall under Australian HS codes: 7216.61.00.57, 7216.69.00.58, 7308.90.00.52, 7308.90.00.53, 7308.90.00.55 and 7308.90.00.56. These cold-formed framing components are used in internal non-load-bearing building walls and partitions.

The AD and CVD investigations were initiated on June 30 2025 following an application file by Australian firm Rondo Building Services Pty Ltd. The dumping and subsidy investigation period covered April 1 2024 to March 31 2025, while the injury investigation period began on April 1 2021.

The Commission imposed provisional AD duties in the form of security deposits on May 25, effective the next day. The provisional rate had been set at 37.8% then for all Chinese exporters, including Wenan Kaize.
