NEA: China's power trading exceeds 5 trillion kWh in Jan-Aug

China's electricity market traded 5,180 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) in January-August, up 19.2% from a year earlier, the National Energy Administration (NEA) said on September 22. August business alone accounted for 754.8 billion kWh, up 15.2%.

For the first eight months, market-traded volume made up about 72% of national consumption, which is still above the "around 70%" the State Council has targeted for 2030. That said, the year-to-date growth eased from 24.2% in January-June to 23.4% in January-July and 19.2% over eight months, with monthly gains
