Whitehaven posts solid coal output in Q1 FY27, but lower sales from port disruptions

Whitehaven Coal, a leading Australian coal miner based in Sydney, recorded strong production during this year's July-September period, the first quarter of its fiscal year 2027. In comparison, the performance of the company's coal sales was relatively weaker, reflecting operational disruptions at terminals during the quarter, according to its latest quarterly report.

During the September quarter, run-of-mine (ROM) coal production at Whitehaven reached 11.03 million tonnes (on a 100% basis), up 3% from the June quarter and 22% from the year-ago level, the report showed.
